Each quarter, students that earn all A’s receive the Sir Isaac Newton award and those with A’s and B’s receive the Madame Curie award. At the end of the year, CCSMS holds an Academic Awards Ceremony.

All students recognized at this ceremony will receive an academic letter if they have not yet received one.  Middle school students will receive a red letter and high school students will receive a blue letter.  Any 9thgrade students will receive a blue letter to continue to add pins for their high school years. Students will keep these letters and continue to add pins throughout their time at the Charleston Charter School for Math and Science.

Each student who makes a final grade of A (93 or higher, Sir Isaac Newton level) in all of their classes each quarter this year will receive a gold pin to place on their academic letter.

Each student whose final grades are all A’s and B’s (85 and higher, Madame Curie level) in all of their classes each quarter this year will receive a silver pin to place on their academic letter.

We also give out teacher choice awards.  For each subject area, teachers were asked to choose one student who is not necessarily the most academically excellent, but who tries the hardest or has made the most improvement throughout the year.  These students will receive a red apple to place on their academic letter.
