What is a Charter School?

It is a  tax-supported school established by a charter between a granting body (as a school board) and an outside group (as of teachers and parents) which operates the school without most local and state educational regulations so as to achieve set goals. We get our funding from Charleston County.

Is there an admissions test?

No, being a charter school means that anyone living in Charleston County can attend the school. We have en enrollment window that allows anyone to apply. Once the enrollment window closes, we see how many applicants we have for however many spaces. If we have more applicants than spaces, we have a lottery.

What guides the school?

Our charter document  helps guide our school in our decisions and direction. The appendix referred to in the charter  is a separate document included below.
