Mr. Robert Pope's profile

This my 29th year in the teaching profession and it is my first year with the Riptide family.  At CCSMS I teach high school Art1, Art2, and Art3, as well as middle grades art. I am a proud graduate of the University of Georgia with a Master of Art Education degree. I earned a Bachelor of Art degree from Mercer University. Teaching art is my passion and I thrive in helping scholars develop their artistic skills. I greatly enjoy seeing scholars gain self confidence as they successfully work through creative challenges. My classroom environment is a place where scholars can feel safe to express themselves creatively without the fear of making mistakes or receiving negative feedback. Artistic mistakes are a natural occurrence in the artmaking process, so I encourage scholars to practice techniques, and to make revisions to their artwork when needed.

 

On a personal note, I am happily married to my best friend Celia, and between us we have a blended family of 4 daughters, and 3 sons. Most of our children are now married adults so we currently only have our 2 teenage boys at home with us. We also have 1 granddaughter, 2 dogs (Pearlgirl and Cocoa) and 1 cat (Catdog). Away from campus I enjoy cooking, grilling, and smoking bbq ribs & pulled pork. I also enjoy spending time with my wife fishing, attending concerts (country & reggae), volunteering at local festivals, and going on Jeep rides with the doors & top off. I am an avid college football and baseball fan (go Dawgs & Braves!), and I support Manchester United in English football.
