2022-23 High School General Supply List
Below is a general list of supplies most often required by our high school teachers. For high school, specific supplies may be requested for their courses each semester. Each course will have a syllabus provided to scholars on the first day of school listing any specific materials needed for that course. We recommend that scholars keep their extra supplies at home to help with homework and reduce the need to carry supplies back and forth to school each day.
These supplies will help scholars be ready to learn:
- 1 Box of 24 pencils - Start each day with 2 or 3 sharpened pencils in your backpack
- 1 Box of 24-count of blue or black ink pens
- 1 Pack of colored pencils
- 1 Pack of highlighters (various colors)
- 2 Packs of 3X3 Post-it notes with 4 in each pack
- 2 Packs of 3X5 index cards
- 4 Spiral college-ruled 1 subject notebooks (may need 8 for full year or 4 per semester)
- 1 Composition Book
- 4 2-pocket folders with prongs (may need 8 for the full year or 4 per semester)
- Pack of graph paper
- 3-ring binders and dividers (Please note: How scholars use binders to keep themselves organized for success at CCSMS is a combination of teacher requirements and personal preference. Some teachers are very specific for the order of items based on the curriculum, handouts, and notes. Teachers will spend time helping scholars get organized and will provide any specifics for each class in the syllabus on the first day. If scholars need additional assistance getting organized, please reach out to the school counselor and we will find someone to help.
- 3 Packs college-ruled loose-leaf paper
- USB Stick labeled or marked with permanent marker with their name
- Wired mouse (Wired is preferred due to scholars losing the wireless usb inserts and batteries dying.)
- Earbuds or headphones for Chromebooks
- Scientific or Graphing Calculator (CCSMS has adopted using the Texas Instruments TI-Nspire CX calculators in the HS Classrooms and tips will be shared on how to get the most out of these calculators. HS Math Classrooms do have sets to borrow in class, but investing in this calculator for HS will be helpful for classwork, homework, and standardized testing. Please make sure it is the CX model, and do NOT purchase the Nspire CAS, as the CAS models are not allowed on the state assessments or the ACT exam. If scholars already have a graphing calculator they do not need to purchase a new one, but they are welcome to do so)
Course-specific needs (others will be provided in the syllabus):
- Art – mixed media sketchbook
- Engineering – ruler, additional graph paper, isometric graph paper
- Photography – USB cord to connect phone to Chromebook/computer, phone or tablet to use at home for taking pictures
- PE – athletic soled shoes, athletic shorts preferred without pockets, purchase CCSMS PE t-shirt (Shirts will be sold for $10/shirt).
